Sporting Legend visits Hart Swimming Club competition!

Hart Swimming Club held the Hart SC Spring Open Meet on 4th & 5th March. Now established as a significant event on the competitive swimming calendar, hosted in the Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet.

Over 400 swimmers representing 13 swimming clubs from Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Dorset, West Sussex and Somerset came to Fleet to compete individually for glory, personal best times and qualification to the Southeast Regional Championships and progress towards National Champs competitions.

Swimmers from 9 to 25 years old took part in a fantastic competition which also saw doors open for a bumper 500+ spectator audience over the full two days of competition.

The competition was also visited by ex- Portsmouth City and England Striker Peter Crouch and his wife Abbey Clancy and family who came to Fleet to watch their daughter compete and medal in her events. Peter and Abbey where kind enough to take several pictures with many of the competitors whilst supporting and cheering on swimmers from all clubs.

Overall Top Girl for the competition goes to Heidi C from Hart Swimming Club. Heidi amassed an incredible amount of medals from across the weekend, breaking many PB’s along the way.

Tristan F from Basingstoke Bluefins SC took home the title of Top Boy, again taking home a huge haul of medals and PB’s.

Head Coach Darren Buchan said “Once again, thank you to all the swimmers and coaches for your support from Hart SC and all visiting clubs. We had a blast and really enjoyed hosting you all! It was brilliant to have such a big crowd once again. The atmosphere was brilliant!”

Chairman Spencer Farmer added “Big thank you to all our volunteers for helping to host this event. We had a new events team this time around and they were fantastic, thank you Matt and Yolanda C! These events are vital to the ongoing success and progress of Hart SC. Without them, we couldn’t afford to rent pool space or coaches to help our swimmers progress and realise their potential. It’s also great for the local community as these events help fill local hotels. B&B’s and restaurants as we bring so many visitors into the local area.”

“In addition, I want to thank our sponsors who help us considerably putting on these events, namely The Shack Café in Hook and Waterways Holidays. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our coaches and swimmers for your passion and dedication towards the club. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves.”
